This 3-hour workshop is suitable for beginning coffee roasters at Rising Tide in South Austin. We cover the basics-and-then-some of turning coffee beans brown, including:
Roasting machine anatomy
How to approach a roast given green coffee variables (origin, altitude, etc.)
How to use machine controls to manage your roast
Data logging, both manual and digital
Roast phases, roast level, and how to know when to stop
Evaluating your results via cupping
Participants will get hands-on roasting time on an Arc 800 and will get to take home a bag of beans that they roasted themselves.
